Bopo adds Zhuyin to Traditional Chinese webpages in Safari and keeps a library of the words you save. This policy explains what it stores and how that is handled. I don't collect your reading data. Your saved words stay on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your personal iCloud account.

The Pages You Read

To add Zhuyin, the Safari extension reads the text of pages where you have turned it on. That happens on your device. Bopo does not send page text to a server for processing or keep a browsing history. When you save a word, it keeps the sentence and source page details listed below. Definitions come from a dictionary built into the app.

What Bopo Stores

On your device and, if you use iCloud, in your personal iCloud account:

• The words you save, each with its Zhuyin, the sentence you found it in, the page's title and address, and the time you saved it
• Where each word is in your library (captured, learning, known or archived)
• Your preferences: tone colors, whether to hide Zhuyin for Known words, your reading level, the Zhuyin position, and the sites you have turned Bopo off for

Bopo has no accounts and no sign-in. It asks for no name, no email address and no personal details, and it has no way to identify you.

iCloud Sync

Bopo uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your saved words between your devices, and iCloud key-value storage to sync your tone colors and whether to hide Zhuyin for Known words. That data lives in the private storage of your personal iCloud account and is protected by Apple's security measures. I cannot read, recover or share it.

iCloud sync is optional. With no iCloud account signed in, Bopo keeps your data on each device without syncing it.

Analytics and Tracking

Bopo contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDKs of any kind. I do not know which pages you read, which words you save, or whether you opened the app today.

Network Use

Bopo makes no network requests of its own. Readings and definitions ship inside the app, so it works with no connection at all. The only network activity comes from Apple's own frameworks: iCloud sync, and the App Store when you make or restore a purchase.

Purchases

Bopo Plus is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see your payment information. The app checks your purchase with Apple to make Plus features available.

Data Sharing

Bopo does not share your data with anyone. I do not collect, sell, or rent your reading data. If you use iCloud sync, Apple stores your saved data in your personal iCloud account. When you export an Anki deck or a text file, it goes only where you choose to send it.

Data Deletion

You can delete saved words at any time within the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored locally. Anything synced to iCloud can be removed through your iCloud settings.

Children's Privacy

Bopo does not knowingly collect personal information from children. It collects no personal information from anyone, and everything stays on the user's own devices and in their own iCloud account.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. Any change will appear on this page with a new revision date.
